The symbiotic love of a teenage girl for her veiled aunt, and the latter’s passionate love for a young man, turn into a great tragedy in the Iran of the mullahs.
Chahdortt Djavann delivers a short, piercing narrative, stripped of all artificiality. Written in a notebook within the walls of a prison by a fifteen-year-old girl, The The Mute Woman is a story that will never be forgotten.
