“These ancestors of ours, who, who knows how many centuries ago, lived from the high mountains of the Caucasus all the way to Persia, as well as in Egypt, under various names, such as the Leleges, Carians, Phrygians, Lydians, Lycians, Paphlagonians, and others, first spread across the Aegean islands of Imbros, Tenedos, Samothrace, Samos, Lemnos, Lesbos, and the other islands of the Cyclades and the Dodecanese.

After inhabiting these islands for hundreds of years, many of them also migrated to the peninsula extending from the southern end of the European continent. This peninsula later came to be known as ‘Illyria,’ after one of these Pelasgian peoples, the people called the Illyrians.”
