This poetry album by the Albanian national poet Kristo Floqi opens with three poems written in memory of his four children who died at a very young age—Tefta, Shpresa, Drita, and his son (whose name I do not know)—as well as his mother, Angjelina Mitko, whom he affectionately calls “Shpatore.”
The album is then divided into three parts.
The first part contains Kristo Floqi’s poems that appear in the school textbook “SHKËNDIJA” (“The Spark”). He writes that this work was published in two volumes and contains a total of 600 poem titles, but I have not been able to find the second volume.
The second part includes poems from the book “TINGËLLIMET E ZEMBRËS” (“Echoes of the Heart”), consisting mainly of love songs and satires.
The third part contains poems either written or translated by Kristo Floqi, which I have gathered from various sources. This section opens with the poem “DËSHIR’ E VËRTETË E SHQIPËTARËVET” (“The True Desire of the Albanians”), the political testament of Naim Frashëri, which Kristo Floqi translated from Greek.
